Bead vs. ghost-ring sights on a defense shotgun?

0

My defense shotgun has a simple front bead. Worth upgrading to ghost-ring sights or even a red dot, or is a bead totally fine at across-the-room distances? Trying to decide where to spend money.

At true in-home distances a bead is fine — you are pointing, not aiming. Where ghost rings or a red dot earn their keep is if you shoot slugs or stretch past ~15 yards, where precise point of impact matters. For a pure defense gun, spend the money on a light and ammo first; add sights later if you find you want them.

Added a red dot to mine and liked it, but honestly the bead worked fine for years. Light first, sights second.
