Is a pistol-caliber carbine worth it for home defense?

A 9mm carbine seems easy to shoot. Is a PCC actually a good home-defense choice vs an AR or shotgun?

PCCs are excellent for home defense: very low recoil, easy to shoot accurately, quiet-ish (great suppressed), and they share ammo/mags with your pistol. The tradeoff vs. a 5.56 AR is less terminal performance, and vs. a shotgun, less raw power — but the shootability advantage is real, especially for recoil-sensitive shooters. Add a light and a red dot and a PCC is a friendly, capable defensive gun.
