Holosun AEMS vs Aimpoint — worth the savings?

The AEMS is an enclosed dot for way less than an Aimpoint. Is it reliable enough to trust on a defensive AR?

The AEMS is a lot of optic for the money — a sealed, enclosed emitter (so rain and mud cannot block the dot), a big square window, Shake Awake, solar backup, and good durability. It is not quite Aimpoint-tough or as proven over decades, but it is close enough that many run it on serious carbines. If budget is tight, the AEMS is an excellent enclosed choice; if you want the most bombproof option and buy-once peace of mind, step up to an Aimpoint when you can.
