First range trip — what should I bring?
Heading to an indoor range for the first time this weekend with a rented pistol. Besides eyes and ears, what am I forgetting? Want to look like I have at least some idea what I am doing and stay safe.

Eyes and ears (double up — foam plugs under muffs indoors), a brimmed hat to keep hot brass off your face, closed-toe shoes and a high-neck shirt, and a bottle of water. Bring less gun handling and more listening: ask the rangemaster about their specific rules, keep the muzzle downrange, finger off the trigger until your sights are on target. Bring a friend who knows the basics if you can. You will do great.
Hat and a collared/high shirt so brass does not find your collar — learned that one the hard way. And do not be afraid to ask staff anything, that is what they are there for.
