Step-by-Step
How to Choose a Holster
Find a holster you'll actually carry with — fit, retention, and position.
- 1Match it to your gun
Get a holster molded for your exact model (and light/optic if equipped). A loose, universal holster is unsafe and uncomfortable.
- 2Pick a carry position
Appendix (AIWB) conceals best for most; strong-side IWB is a comfortable all-rounder; OWB is best for range or open carry.
- 3Check retention and trigger guard
The trigger guard must be fully covered, and the gun should click in with positive retention — it shouldn't fall out when inverted.
- 4Add a real belt
A flimsy belt ruins a good holster. A stiff gun belt distributes weight and keeps the rig stable.
Safety first: always treat every gun as loaded, keep your finger off the trigger until ready, and confirm it's unloaded before any maintenance.
