Can a gun be shipped to my house, or does it have to go to an FFL?

First time buying a firearm online. Does it come to my door, or do I have to use a dealer to receive it?

If you're buying from a dealer or online retailer, federal law requires it ship to an FFL near you for the transfer and background check — not to your home. For a normal online purchase you pick an FFL, give the seller that dealer's info, and complete ATF Form 4473 in person at the shop. (Narrow exceptions exist, like a C&R-eligible firearm if you hold an 03 license.)
