Constitutional Carry

Also known as: permitless carry

Laws allowing eligible adults to carry a concealed firearm without a government permit.

Ask about Constitutional Carry

Constitutional carry — also called permitless carry — means a person who can legally own a firearm may carry it concealed (and often openly) without obtaining a state permit. The majority of U.S. states have adopted some form of it, though the details vary: minimum age, whether it applies to residents only, and which places remain off-limits.

Permitless carry doesn't erase the rules. Federal and state prohibited places (schools, government buildings, certain private property) still apply, reciprocity for travel can be murkier without a permit, and many carriers still get a permit for the reciprocity and convenience it provides. Always verify current law in your state and any state you visit.
